About

McGeno

I was born mid 1950`s and grew up in a blue-collar neighborhood of Westchester County just north of New York City. I am solidly baby boomer. My father passed away in 1965, leaving my mother to raise myself and two older sisters. My education was entirely parochial school save a few credits in community college. “Some college” is my educational status. Our mother did a great job often working two jobs to make ends meet. We never wanted for anything, except possibly a better explanation of what was going on around us. A good person, she passed away suddenly, six weeks before my first marriage.

I am an honorably discharged US Army Vet, having served 3 years in West Germany 1976-79. I have been married twice, both times to the same woman. I am also a twenty year plus active member of a twelve-step program. My wife and I had two children. We lost our beautiful 22-year-old son to cancer in 2011. Our wonderful daughter is engaged to a great guy and lives in Washington DC. We also have a close-knit extended family. My wife and I currently live outside Charleston SC.

Experience

A Salesperson by trade, I spent 8 years in the car business and the last twenty-five years in phone sales (telemarketing,) selling computer supplies. I am currently semi-retired working 3 days a week and also spending a lot of time getting this blog off the ground. I also have a YouTube channel of the same name.  My wife is a child care professional which is a calling she was born for. She loves children and they adore her. Having run a very successful licensed day care business out of our home for 20 years, she has continued in her chosen field to this day. I hope to have her contribute to this blog.

Purpose of this Blog

I have had many experiences, some of which I handled well and others not so much. As this project begins, I am just shy of my 66th birthday. There has been a lesson in just about everything I have gone through. I have learned something from everyone who has come in and out of my life. Some lessons small yet many profound. I want to share what I have learned and what I am still trying to figure out. I expect my audience will trend towards the 50+ demo but I hope that what I have to say resonates with a broad spectrum.  I come to you with a degree of fear. The old ghosts of not being good enough, that have always haunted me, continue. I hope to keep those fears at bay. I believe that we all have spiritual connections if we are open and honest. If my words touch anyone in a positive way my efforts will not have been in vain. HELLO WORLD.
